To Impeach or Not to Impeach
POLL: More Arizonans Disapprove of Trump but Fewer Want Him Removed from Office
PHOENIX (Nov. 13, 2019) – With public impeachment hearings starting up this week, Arizonans are split on whether President Donald Trump should be impeached and removed from office. The poll of registered voters found 42% believe Trump should be impeached and removed, while 47% do not.
The same poll found Trump's approval rating underwater in the Grand Canyon State. 50% of Arizona registered voters disapprove of Trump's performance; 46% approve. Sentiment is split sharply on party lines: 82% of Republicans, 12% of Democrats, and 41% of Independents give the president a positive rating.
On impeachment specifically, partisan lines are equally sharp. Democrats believe Trump should be impeached by a 67-point margin (80% to 13%). Republicans think Trump should stay in office by a 68-point margin (79% to 11%). Independent voters, while disapproving of Trump's job performance, are less certain he should be removed — only 39% of independents favor removal, while 46% think he should remain in office.
